We really don’t know Gus’s whole history but it’s pretty obvious that there were years of chains, neglect and lack of food and attention. Gus was found loose with a chain dragging from his body in southern West Virginia, he escaped his prisoned life it had seemed. Gus had been roaming on a property for 3 to 4 weeks until some kind people were able to finally catch him and chain him up at their house and reach out for help.  He was in such bad shape and so matted that they couldn’t even tell the gender.  Lil Buddy Rescue was contacted to help find rescue for him and a few days later Love on a Leash Dog Rescue were able to meet her to bring him home to Maryland to start his new life. We are just so happy and thankful that Gus has a chance at a healthy normal life now. No more sleeping in the cold wet outdoors chained with no freedom, love or attention.

Gus is not in the greatest shape and has endured a lot of suffering over the years and it shows. He has eye infections, growths on eyes that need to be removed, a very large neck wound, severe ear infections, and Lyme disease. He currently has periodontal disease. His one lower canine may need to be removed - looks as though the root is exposed. He will need neuter as well.  He will need to be treated for all of these things and he will need to eat 3 to 4 times a day since he is so emaciated. His medical bills and care are expected to exceed $2000.00

For his size Gus should weigh about 110-120 pounds, sadly when rescued he is  71 pounds.
